Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle 750 ml of white wine (like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • ¼ cup brandy or rum optional
  • 2 medium apples chopped
  • 1 pear chopped
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise
  • ¼ cup pomegranate seeds optional, for garnish
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Sparkling water optional, for added fizz when serving

Instructions
 

Prepare the fruit:

  • Wash all the fruit thoroughly.
  • Core and chop the apples and pear into small cubes, about 1/2 inch in size.
  • Slice the orange into thin rounds.

In a large pitcher or sangria jar, combine:

  • The bottle of white wine
  • Apple cider
  • Brandy or rum (if using)

Add the prepared fruit to the liquid mixture:

  • Chopped apples
  • Chopped pear
  • Orange slices

Add the spices:

  • Drop in the cinnamon sticks
  • Add the star anise
  • Stir the mixture gently to combine all ingredients.
  • Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.

When ready to serve:

  • Stir the sangria mixture.
  • Fill glasses with ice.
  • Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to include some of the fruit in each glass.
  • If desired, add a splash of sparkling water for some fizz.
  • Garnish with a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds and an extra cinnamon stick, if desired.
  • Serve and enjoy responsibly!
