  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika optional
  • Fresh herbs parsley or thyme, for garnish - optional

Instructions

Prepare the Pork Chops:

  • Trim any excess fat and pat the chops dry with a paper towel to ensure a good sear.
  • Season generously with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika on both sides.

Heat the Pan:

  • Use a cast iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan for even heat distribution.
  • Heat olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Sear the Pork Chops:

  • Place the pork chops in the pan without overcrowding.
  • Sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until a golden crust forms. Avoid flipping too often.

Add Garlic Butter:

  • Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the pan.
  • Stir in minced garlic and baste the chops with the melted butter for 1-2 minutes.

Check the Temperature:

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  • Remove the chops from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
