Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb 450g flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 bell peppers red, green, or yellow, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for cooking
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the Steak:
    In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to coat the steak evenly. Let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.
  • Prepare the Vegetables:
    While the steak is marinating, thinly slice the bell peppers and onion.
  • Mix Cornstarch Slurry:
    In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Set aside.
  • Cook the Steak:
    Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak in a single layer, ensuring it's spread out evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring to allow it to sear and brown. Then, stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • Cook the Vegetables:
    In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil if needed. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften but still retain some crispness.
  • Combine Everything:
    Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the cornstarch slurry over the steak and vegetables. Stir well to combine, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients evenly.
  • Serve:
    Once the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency, remove the skillet from the heat. Serve the Pepper Steak Stir Fry hot over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
