  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened natural cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar packed
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch salt to taste
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ice cream or whipped topping optional for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl that’s safe for microwave use, combine the granulated sugar, cocoa, water, oil, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt. Use a whisk to mix everything together.
  • Add the flour and stir until just combined, don’t overmix.
  • Add the chocolate chips and stir to combine.
  • Microwave the mixture on high power for approximately 1 minute or until the center of the brownie is as firm as you prefer.
    Keep in mind that microwaves, bowls, ingredients, and personal preferences can all affect the cooking time, so you may need to adjust accordingly.
    It’s advisable to pause and check at the 45-second point, then continue cooking in 15-second intervals if needed.
  • Optionally add ice cream or whipped topping and serve immediately. Brownie is best warm and fresh.
