- 1 lb 450g sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 bunch of asparagus trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 red bell pepper cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 red onion cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Wooden or metal skewers
Prepare the Marinade:In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, honey or maple syrup, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. This will be your marinade for the steak and vegetables. Marinate the Steak:Place the cubed steak in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour half of the marinade over the steak, making sure it's evenly coated. Cover the dish or seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours. Reserve the remaining marinade for later use. Prepare the Vegetables:While the steak is marinating, prepare the vegetables. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus and cut them into 2-inch pieces. Cut the red bell pepper and red onion into 1-inch pieces. Assemble the Kabobs:Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill. Thread the marinated steak cubes, asparagus pieces, red bell pepper pieces, and red onion pieces onto the skewers, alternating between the ingredients. Grill the Kabobs:Brush the assembled kabobs with the reserved marinade. Place the kabobs on the preheated grill and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, or until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and the vegetables are tender and lightly charred. Serve:Once cooked, remove the kabobs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve the grilled steak and asparagus kabobs hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro, if desired.
